On Friday the 1st of August, Guisborough hosted the wonderfully named Yorkshire Day! At argument cottage we are proud to be part of Yorkshire and are members of the Yorkshire Tourist Board and finalists in the White Rose Awards for Sustainable Tourism.

Guisborough welcomed 40 Mayors from all over Yorkshire and the day started at 10:30. The proceeding began with a parade down Westgate, dignitary photographs in the splendid 12th Century Augustinian Priory Ruins and a service at St Nicholas Church with a song from local opera star Suzannah Clarke. It was a great day for all Guisborough residents, visitors and those attending the event.

The day ended with a dinner and guest speaker and proud Yorkshireman Dickie Bird providing the wit and entertainment; a common trait amongst us proud Yorkshire folk.

Thankfully the weather was lovely and all went splendidly for the wonderful occasion!

We hope to host many more such prestigious events in Guisborough!

It is Goth Weekend in Whitby again at the end of October for Halloween. Watch out for Dracula!

Find everything you need to know about Bram Stoker and Dracula in the link below..................he reputedly came ashore on Tate Hill Sands, Whitby, in the Demiter in the form of a black dog. Watch out for one seen on Church Street recently, near to Arguments Yard!

Why not stay at Argument Cottage during Goth Week, we are only a short and lovely drive over the moors to Whitby where you will be able to enjoy the sights and splendours of Gothic Whitby to your heart's content?

We are proud to link our Argument Heritage Trail to Arguments Yard on Church Street in Whitby near to where Dracula came ashore on Tate Hill sands in the form of a black dog..............
